About the Artist: Some of Tyler’s earliest memories involve exploration of colors and their relationships to the world. His college experience culminated in a BFA from the the University of Utah with an emphasis in drawing and painting, printmaking, and ceramics. Tyler gives much attention to the materials used to create his works—often using unconventional media in the creation of gallery pieces. Asphalt, oil paint, powdered aluminum and spray paints result in bleeding edges on shapes as the works become thickly layered with translucent “paints”. Finishing each piece with resins melds the layers together for a quiet, dreamlike result.
